What is Independent Living?
Independent Living is a housing option for seniors, commonly referred to as a retirement community. While residents require little assistance, they choose living in a retirement community knowing that there is staff available 24 hours per day in case of an emergency.
What is Assisted Living?
Assisted Living is an option for seniors between independent living and skilled care offering some assistance with activities of daily living. Such assistance may include help with bathing, hygiene, dressing and medication.
Is there assistance for veterans?
Yes, Veterans assistance is available for Veterans and Spouses through Veterans Financial. Paying anywhere from $1057 to $2540 per month. There are specific requirements. More information is available at www.veteransfinancial.com.
Does Medicare cover assisted living?
While Medicare does not cover assisted living, reimbursement is available for physician visits, qualifying hospital stays and therapies.
How is the cost for assisted living determined?
There are two components to cost—size of the selected apartment and level of care. Before a resident moves in, an assessment by the nurse will determine what care services are needed.
Are residents allowed to smoke?
No, Royal Plaza is a Smoke Free Campus.
Are residents allowed to have pets?
Yes, Royal Plaza is a pet friendly facility. Most small pets are accepted with a one-time pet deposit and record of current vaccinations.
May resident decorate their own apartment?
Of course! A resident’s apartment is her/his house. Personal comfort is the goal. Just remember—furnishing and decorating is each resident’s responsibility.
Can friends and family visit?
Absolutely! Friends and family are always welcome. Guests are encouraged at mealtimes—please give 2 hrs notice to the front desk. Several community rooms are available for larger family gatherings. Family members visiting from out of town may rent a furnished room for their stay.
